Drummer Austin Wrinkle from Hands On’semble, Bass player Orest Balaban, Eels and Guitarist Jake Vossler, from Burning ghost, have been playing together for over 15 years in the Balkan Jam Band, Plotz. This core rhythm section has teamed up with Eric Warner, guitarist, singer songwriter writer, to form Surge Du Monde in 2019.

AUSTIN WRINKLE • Drums & Percussion
Austin brings versatility to Surge Du Monde through combining drum and percussion techniques & concepts from around the world. Austin has been nominated for “World Percussionist Of The Year” in the 2014 & 2015 Drum! Magazine Drummies Awards. He is a founding member of the internationally acclaimed percussion group Hands On’Semble.
OREST BALABAN • Electric Bass, Upright Bass, Vocals
Orest and Austin have been playing together for over 25 years. Son of Ukrainian immigrants, Orest brings an old world depth with a jocular bite. Orest has been playing around Ventura CA since 1997 with the likes of Jonathan McEuen, Jonathan Raffetto Band, Bluer Pastures, the Tatters, Mark Insley, Plotz and Moss Man. Orest performed on the David Letterman, Late Night Show with the Eels as part of a year long tour.
ERIC WARNER • Guitar, Vocals
Eric and Austin have been playing and writing together for over 30 years. After a steady diet of Bob Marley, Led Zeppelin & Jimi Hendrix, Eric moved towards Jazz where he spent time studying at LA Music Academy, before his need for Lyrical song writing arrived. Before Surge Du Monde Eric performed and recorded with Jon Swift, & Jens Rossen Feil.
JAKE VOSSLER • Guitar
Jake has forged a unique voice and approach to the guitar by combining elements from metal and jazz and applying extended techniques. He is a founding member of the metal/jazz quartet Burning Ghosts, one of the most acclaimed bands in the LA experimental music scene.
He has performed/appeared on records with: Dan Rosenboom, Miroslav Tadic, Vinny Golia, Swapan Chadiuri, Gary Novak, David Rosenboom, Gene Coye, Aaron Maclendon, Richard Giddens, Jerry Watts Jr., Gavin Templeton, Tom Fowler, Tim Lefevbre, Vinny Coliauta, Brian Walsh, Austin Wrinkle, Tina Raymond , Jeff Babko, Gerald Wilson, Maria Schneider, Dave Binney, single wing turquoise bird, Jimmy Johnson, and countless others.
